The previous couple of years have seen a scaled-up commotion in South cinema. Krishna DK, the co-director of Shahid Kapoor's Farzi, has brought attention to the fact that mainstream Bollywood actors are frequently cast in derogatory roles in south Indian movies, which ultimately harms their careers. The leading males of Hindi cinema haven't seen the same success as many performers from the South who have acted as mainstream heroes in Bollywood did. Leading roles in Hindi movies have frequently been played by actors like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and R Madhavan. In contrast to Taapsee Pannu and Tamannaah Bhatia, male actors haven't had as much success in the south Indian film industry. In an interview Galatta Plus, Krishna DK said, “There are a lot of villains in Tamil and Telugu who are from the north. All our actors here have gone there and played bad guys including Manoj Bajpayee.” The director made note of the fact that actors who make the transfer to south movies typically play the bad guys. Sonu Sood and Mukul Dev are two actors who have recently performed in villainous roles. South Indian movies have featured mainstream actors like Shahid Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan. In the same Galatta Plus interview, Shahid said that no film in another language has yet been offered to him. Additionally, his co-star Raashii Khanna said, “Honestly when it comes to acceptance of male heroes in the north doing a south film, I don’t know how well that will be accepted in the south, that too as a mainstream hero.” Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's recent movie Pathaan has made over 800 crore at the box office worldwide, but it has done better in countries where Hindi is the primary language. Pathaan made almost 20 crore rupees in Andhra Pradesh during its opening week, while Tamil Nadu and Kerala saw about 10 crore rupees in revenue.
