Deepika Padukone reveals mom Ujjala identified depression symptoms; urged her to get help

With her hard work and dedication, actress Deepika Padukone earned a name for herself across the globe. Along with it, the actress has actively spread awareness about mental health. In fact, as soon as she came back from the Paris Fashion Week, she headed to Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu to expand a programme of her mental health foundation Live Love Laugh.

For World Mental Health Day, which is on October 10, the Ram Leela actress revealed that she doesn't know where she would be today had her mother not urged her to get help. In an interview with NDTV, Padukone thanked her mother for identifying the signs and symptoms of her depression. During her interview, she stressed on the importance of caregivers for those struggling with their mental health.

DP asserted that her mother, Ujjala Padukone, saw her in a moment of vulnerability and had the presence of mind to tell her that she should reach out to professionals for help. Elaborating further, she added that her mother used to make sure that her treatment continued regularly.

On the family’s role in mental health, the Bajirao Mastani actress said, “It is extremely crucial. Even in my personal journey, the role of the caregiver has been extremely important that’s why my mother is here, that’s why my sister has been so passionately part of this cause for many years and therefore when I hear the stories of the caregivers, I understand how equally important that is as well, and the emotional well-being of the caregiver is as important as the emotional well-being of the person experiencing mental illness.”

Deepika had first opened up about her battle with depression in 2015. Later, she started the Live Love Laugh foundation to help others who are dealing with it.

Kanye West’s social media accounts get restricted following backlash over antisemitic posts

After sharing antisemitic posts on social media, Kanye ‘Ye’ West, has had both his Twitter and Instagram accounts restricted following a series of antisemitic posts.

According to a report by Variety, the restriction comes after West took to Twitter after facing a similar restriction on Instagram. The musician Donda rapper shared two tweets that have largely been criticized as antisemitic. The first post – where West claimed that he couldn’t be antisemitic and said he had been “toyed with” by the Jewish people – has since been deleted by Twitter for “violating the Twitter rules.”

“I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death [sic] con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,” West wrote in the now-deleted post. “The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also. You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.” A second post, shared closely after the first, remains public on Twitter: “Who do you think created cancel culture?”

Earlier on October 7, West had shared a screenshot of a message, in a now-deleted post, which he had allegedly sent to rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs, in which he wrote, "Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me. I told you this was war." Soon after, Instagram restricted his account and deleted the content for a violation of its policies.

Per the report, a Meta spokesperson confirmed the decision sharing that temporary restrictions on posting, commenting and messaging are standard practice for accounts that regularly violate the social media platform’s policies. The company did not indicate which specific posts were the cause behind the restriction.

Following the backlash on Instagram, West took to Twitter calling out Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg for his restriction from the platform and wrote, “Look at this Mark How you gone kick me off Instagram You used to be my ni**a” Replying to the rapper, Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote, “Welcome back to Twitter, my friend!”

Shekhar Kapur believes box office has become more important than films; says people still watch Mr. India and Masoom even after 30 years

Known for giving us cult films like Masoom and Mr. India, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur recently was seen talking about box office collection on social media. Referring to how the film’s success is often classified by its entry into Rs. 100 crore or Rs. 200 crore club, the filmmaker believes that in the race of entering these clubs there is often no importance given to the film’s content. Many movie buffs and fans have supported the filmmaker and showcased it by replying to the tweet.

Taking to Twitter, Shekhar Kapur said, “Box office collections are becoming far far more important than the film itself. Even for audiences. I can’t ever remember looking at first week’s box off collections of Masoom, or Mr India. And over 30 years later, people are still watching these films.” Coming in support of the filmmaker, many netizens dropped their comments. “Content seems to be the casualty in this obsession with box office collection. Beautiful and realistic cinema like ‘Masoom’ will always be my ‘go to comfort watch’,” commented one of the fans.

One fan also explained how films such as Andaz Apna Apna and Silsila, which failed to do well at the box office, became a cult over the years. “Some Hit Films are forgotten over time... Some Flop Films become cult hits over time..,” shared another social media user. Another disappointed fan added, “Money scores over quality in reel life and real life sir... Such are the times..”

Known for his unique style of cinema, Shekhar Kapur made his Bollywood debut with the film Masoom and went on to make films like Mr. India and Bandit Queen. The filmmaker has also ventured into international films with the biographical period drama Elizabeth in 1998 which was nominated in seven categories for Academy Awards. The film starred Cate Blanchett in the lead role along with Geoffrey Rush, Christopher Eccleston, Joseph Fiennes, John Gielgud, and Richard Attenborough in supporting roles. The filmmaker had announced his return to Bollywood with Paani featuring Sushant Singh Rajput but after the untimely demise of the star, the film has been put on hold.

EXCLUSIVE: Salman Khan to surprise fans this Diwali; to drop Kisi Ka Bhi Kisi Ki Jaan’s poster, motion poster OR teaser

Salman Khan has been even more successful since the release of Dabangg (2010). His box office record is envious and though a few of his recent films underperformed, his stardom is intact. As a result, there’s a lot of hype for his upcoming film, Kisi Ka Bhi Kisi Ki Jaan. The superstar has released a few stills from the film and even a rocking title announcement video in the past few months. And now, on Diwali, Salman is all set to treat fans with a surprise.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Salman Khan and his team are going to digitally drop an asset of Kisi Ka Bhi Kisi Ki Jaan. It’ll be launched on or around the Festival of Lights. Diwali is a time when families come together. Kisi Ka Bhi Kisi Ki Jaan is also a complete family entertainer. Hence, Salman felt that this period is apt to release an asset of the film. Moreover, with the movie releasing two months later, it was only fair to begin the promotional campaign during the festival.”

When asked what the fans can expect, the source replied, “Salman Khan, director Farhad Samji and the core team are working on the poster, motion poster and teaser. They’ll decide closer to Diwali as to what they’ll like to release out of the three.”

Will it come on the day of Diwali? The source revealed, “Possibly. Or it can come around Diwali. A clearer picture will emerge in the next ten days.”

Meanwhile, fans online are speculating that Kisi Ka Bhi Kisi Ki Jaan’s asset will be unveiled during the India vs Pakistan T20 match, which will be held on October 23. The source, however, maintained that nothing is sure at the moment.

Kisi Ka Bhi Kisi Ki Jaan also stars Pooja Hegde, Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari, Siddharth Nigam, Jassie Gill and Raghav Juyal. Venkatesh and Jagapathi Babu also have key roles in the film. It will release in cinemas on December 30, 2022.

Doctor G star Rakul Preet Singh confesses feeling ‘very shy’ to go to a male gynaecologist; says, ‘taboo around it needs to be broken

Bollywood’s upcoming film Doctor G is making headlines ever since its inception, especially its story and subject. For the unversed, the upcoming film is a brave attempt to showcase the struggles of being a male gynaecologist in India. As the release of the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer is around the corner, its leading lady Rakul Preet Singh revealed that she “felt shy” as a teenager to go to a male gynaecologist.

In an interview with News 18, the Bollywood diva was asked whether she ever felt apprehensive speaking to male gynaec. In her response, Singh said, “There was a time when I had to go to a male gynaecologist and I felt very shy. I thought how am I going to let this person examine me? You’re a 13-14-year-old, and I did feel shy.

The Attack actor explained, “But now when I look back and obviously when I grew older, I realised that’s not how you look at it. And that’s the conversation even in the trailer. We speak about the male touch and the doctor’s touch. As per statistics, some of the top gynaecologists in the country are male.”

Elaborating further, the De De Pyaar De actress added, “So that’s what we’re trying to say - a doctor is a doctor and that’s how it needs to be viewed. The taboo around it needs to be broken because sexual health is a very important part of one’s being. Unfortunately, we don’t talk about it as much. But it is a part of your body, like a heart or a brain.”

Talking about the forthcoming film, it will feature Ayushmann and Rakul in the lead. Meanwhile, Shefali Shah will also play an important role in it. The film is slated to release on October 14.

Shah Rukh Khan ropes in ‘Fauda’ filmmaker Lior Raz to train Aryan Khan for his debut series

Not too long ago, we had reported that the eldest born of superstar Shah Rukh Khan is not keen on acting. However, son Aryan Khan wants very much to be a part of the entertainment industry but likes to stay behind the camera. While he has also undergone professional academic training in filmmaking, now for his debut web-series, Aryan is expected to take further training and it will be under an international filmmaker. Reports suggest that father-producer Shah Rukh Khan has roped in Fauda filmmaker Lior Riaz to train his son for his debut series which will be produced by Red Chillies Entertainment.

As per a Pinkvilla report, a source revealed the details saying, "Aryan is penning a script with a bunch of writers for Red Chillies Productions’ web series. One of them is Lior Raz. The work has already begun on the project and it may kick off by the end of the year. Aryan wants to learn the process of filmmaking. He wants to kick off his career as a writer first before he dives into the direction." Earlier reports also suggested that Aryan will collaborate with Bilal Siddiqui, who was the co-writer of Bard of Blood, for his debut web-series. The details of this show, including the casting, are currently being kept under wraps.

Speaking of Fauda, it is a 2015 Israeli TV drama developed by Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff that focuses on Israel Defense Forces and tells the story of a commander in pursuit of an arch-terrorist known as ‘The Panther’. The show has been recreated in Hindi titled Tanav that is set against the backdrop of the turbulent atmosphere of Kashmir.

Coming to Shah Rukh Khan, while his elder son has paved way into direction, his daughter Suhana Khan will be making her debut as an actress in Zoya Akhtar’s multi starrer The Archies that also marks the debut of Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda and Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor.

Drishyam 2: Ajay Devgn starrer wraps a schedule with a song featuring the Salgaonkar family

The recent recall of the journey of Vijay Salgaonkar and his family has risen the anticipation for the much-awaited, Drishyam 2. Going by the latest development update, the upcoming film has wrapped its last schedule. Interestingly, before wrapping the crew shot a song featuring the Salgaonkar family in Goa. 

The sequel of the murder mystery will mark the return of its original star cast of Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta. After the release of the recall teaser, Bollywood Hungama had shared an interesting development about the film. A source told us, “The trailer of Drishyam 2 is expected to be out mid-October, around October 15 or 16.”

It further added, “The launch event will be held in Goa. The beach state played a very important role in part 1 as well as in Drishyam 2. Hence, the team of the film felt that launching the trailer of Drishyam 2 will give a nice touch. The film's actors - Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav - will be in attendance at the Goa event along with director Abhishek Pathak and the producers of the film.”

Viacom18 Studios Presents Gulshan Kumar, T-Series and Panorama Studios present, Drishyam 2 produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak and Krishan Kumar. The original score and music are by Rockstar DSP (Devi Sri Prasad). Directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 2 is set to release theatrically on 18th November 2022.

Geeta Basra to return to the big screen with Parambrata Chatterjee starrer Notary; film goes on floor this week

Geeta Basra has been on a long hiatus. But now, the actress is all set to return to the big screen after six years. Geeta, who was busy with her married life and motherhood, had decided to take a break from the entertainment industry. While she was quite active on social media, the actress seems to have made up her mind to return and stay active in B-town as well. Her next film is titled Notary and will feature her alongside Parambrata Chatterjee.

Geeta Basra took to Instagram to announce her next film Notary and also gave a sneak peek into what the film is all about. She posted, “#Notary is a quirky and satirical drama film. A Kaash Entertainment production, in association with Boundless Media and Wadeeyar Movies, the shoot of the film has begun.” Speaking about her return, a source close to the actress said, “Geeta has announced her comeback to films after six years. She was on a maternity break for the past few years and now she decided that she is all set to face the cameras again. Before that, the actress is spending some quality time with her family in Dubai.”

Notary is directed by Pawan Wadeyar and is also expected to star Shiv Pandit, Priya Banerjee, Dalip Tahil, Darshana Banik, among others. Recently the actress also announced about the film going on floors by posing with a clap. Producers Kaash Entertainment, Boundless Media, Wadeeyar Movies also shared photos and videos announcing the film going on floors in Bhopal.

Shehnaaz Gill’s father Santokh Singh Gill files complaint after receiving death threats; says, “If no arrests are made, will be forced to leave Punjab”

Former Bigg Boss contestant Shehnaaz Gill is gearing up to become a Bollywood star. However, the reality show contestant’s family seems to face trouble in Punjab. Her father Santokh Singh Gill, who is also a politician, faced death threats and have approached the Amritsar police and has filed a case against the caller. Mr. Gill has given a statement to ANI claiming that he received a phone call and was threatened that he would be killed before Diwali. He also went on to state that if no arrests are made, he would be forced to leave Punjab.

Speaking to ANI, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) member Santokh Singh Gill said, “I reached the SSP of Amritsar Rural Police on Saturday to file a complaint,” he said. “Yesterday I got a threat call from a person named Happy who threated to kill me before Diwali,” he shared. He went on to add, “I think they want to target me because I am a Hindu leader.”

While he has requested the police to fast track the investigation, he went on to conclude, “If no arrests are made, I will soon be forced to leave Punjab and settle elsewhere.” In the past, in December 2021, Santokh Singh Gill was attacked by two assailants who had shot him when he was sitting in the car.

Shehnaaz Gill gained fame with Bigg Boss 13 and was reportedly dating co-contestant Siddharth Shukla, who passed away last year due to cardiac arrest. She is currently gearing up to make her big Bollywood debut alongside Salman Khan in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan which also features an ensemble cast of Siddharth Nigam, Raghav Juyal, Jassie Gill among others.

Manoj Bajpayee to play the lead in Zee Studios’ courtroom drama

Three-time National Film Awardee, Manoj Bajpayee has been roped in to play the lead in an untitled courtroom drama, backed by Vinod Bhanushali’s Bhanushali Studios Limited, Suparn S Varma and Zee Studios. It is expected to revolve around a hard-hitting subject and marks the debut of director Apoorv Singh Karki in Hindi films who has helmed popular OTT shows like Saas Bahu Achaar Pvt. Ltd, and Flames, among others. The film brings back Suparn S Varma and Manoj Bajpayee together after their award-winning series ‘The Family Man’. Besides Bajpayee, the film is also expected to feature an ensemble cast.

Speaking about the film, Manoj Bajpayee said, “When Vinod Bhanushali & Suparn S Varma told me about the story, I was fascinated and immediately agreed to be a part of this beautiful script. The courtroom drama will enthrall and Apoorv Karki is going to create something that will intrigue the audience. We are excited as we start shoot today. I am sure this film is something people will remember for a really long time.”

Talking about choosing this film as his debut in Hindi cinema, director Apoorv Singh Karki shared, “This film has everything on point that attracted me towards it – a good story, solid cast, strong producers backing it. The script demanded a calm and assertive actor like Manoj Sir to lead the film and we are glad to have him on board. This is definitely an unmissable opportunity for me.”

Shweta Bachchan recalls getting ‘thrashed’ by mom Jaya Bachchan; latter says, ‘she was free with slaps'

Navya Naveli Nanda dropped the third episode of her podcast What The Hell Navya. Just like the first two, the third episode of the podcast also gave a sneak peek into the Bachchan family. Though the latest podcast episode had a bunch of highlight moments, Shweta Bachchan revealing mom Jaya Bachchan ‘was very free with her slaps’ during her childhood has grabbed the attention of fans.

Shweta shared that her mother Jaya was very particular about her being involved in extracurricular activities. She then added, “I had to do Bharatanatyam, Hindi classical music, swimming, sitar, and piano.” She continued, “But she was very free with her slaps, I got slapped a lot. The ruler got broken on me once. She used to beat me a lot.”

Amid this, Jaya interrupted and asserted, “Abhishek hardly got slapped. I believe always the first child gets thrashed. I got thrashed a lot as a child. My sisters didn’t.” While elaborating, the actress-turned-politician said, “She was very annoying and stubborn.”

The Bawarchi actress went on to say, “Honestly, I realised parents hit children when they are angry with themselves because they are incapable of handling a situation. So, the only reaction is. The frustration gets out like this.”

As the episode continued, Shweta also recalled how dad Amitabh Bachchan used to punish her. She mentioned that the maximum punishment Big B gave was to stand in the corner. Shweta revealed that she liked that punishment as she used to make stories, and talk to herself in the corner.

The latest episode of What The Hell Navya extensively discussed Desi Parenting. In the episode, Jaya described Shweta as a dreamer during her childhood. Whereas Navya revealed that she used to sit at Sr Bachchan’s office the entire day and act like his secretary.

Housefull 5 to bring Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Bobby Deol under one roof: Report

The Housefull franchise is all set to make another addition with its fifth instalment. Yes! You read it right! After delivering four successful films in the series, the makers are gearing up for Housefull 5.

In an exclusive report of Pinkvilla, the publication has shared some inside details of the upcoming project. The report stated that it will be one of the biggest multi-starrers of Hindi Cinema. Meanwhile, it is informed that the forthcoming film will bring Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, and Bobby Deol together.

Quoting a source, the report said, “Sajid Nadiadwala has the plan of bringing an entire universe of his Housefull franchise under one roof ever since the release of Housefull 4. He has been trying to crack a plot that justifies the presence of all the characters and he finally has the plot locked. He is currently in the process of finalising a story and screenplay around his idea.”

It further continued, “The idea is to take Housefull 5 on floors late next year. Housefull 5 has been in the development stage for quite some time, and now the ambition is getting closer to reality.” Concluding the same, the source asserted, “Imagine the madness, confusion, and comedy of errors with so many characters in the Housefull setup. It’s a house filled with actors.”

However, neither the actors nor the makers have confirmed or announced the same. For the unversed, the Housefull franchise was kicked off in 2010 followed by a sequel in 2012, 2016, and 2019. While Akshay and Riteish were lead in all the instalments, Abhishek and Bobby joined the club in the third and fourth parts respectively.
