Ranbir Kapoor stops accepting film offers; decides to take paternity leave

Ranbir Kapoor has decided to take time off to be with his baby when it is born. His wife Alia Bhatt will return to work as soon as she can after the delivery while Ranbir will be the stay at home parent.

A very close friend of the couple reveals, “It was Ranbir’s idea to take a paternity break. He is a very excited father-to-be. He suggested that Alia should return to work while he would look after the baby.”

Alia would need to get back to finish her pending work in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and then go straight into Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra. Ranbir, on the other hand, is quickly completing his work on Sandeep Venga’s Animal. He has not accepted any other project as of now, and will do so only after his paternity leave.”

Adipurush director Om Raut breaks silence on Saif Ali Khan’s Lankesh look being compared to Khilji; says, ‘Our Ravan in today's time is demonic’

As soon as the teaser of the Om Raut directorial Adipurush dropped, it received a mixed response. Meanwhile, a section of netizens trolled the look of Saif Ali Khan as Ravan. Now, director Om Raut and dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir have finally broken their silence.

In an interview with Aaj Tak, the director-writer duo addressed the criticism. Raut explained, “Our Ravan in today's time is demonic, he is cruel. The one who has abducted our Goddess Sita is cruel. We have shown what Raavan look like in today's time. This is not a film or a project for us. This is a mission for us.”

Om then went on to elaborate and asserted, “Our film is a symbol of our devotion and we need everyone's blessings for this. Whosoever is speaking about the film are our elders. I am listening to all of them and taking note of everything. When you will watch the film in January 2023, I will not disappoint anyone.”

Muntashir added that people have only watched a 1 minute and 35 seconds-long teaser in which Saif's Ravan is seen with a tripund (three horizontal lines on the forehead in the form of a tilak). He continued, “I want to ask which Khilji sports a tilak or a tripund? Which Khilji wears a janeu (holy thread) and rudraksh? Our Ravan sports all of these in the tiny teaser.”

The mythological film based on Ramayana is slated to release on January 12 next year. While Khan will essay Lankesh, Prabhas and Kriti Sanon will be seen as Ram and Sita.

Abhishek Bachchan and Nikkhil Advani to collaborate for a drama film: Report

After his last big screen release, Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has won the audience's hearts with his four back-to-back OTT projects. As the actor was more visible on the screen in the past two years, his fans are eager to know everything about his upcoming projects. Well, here is some news for them!

Abhishek Bachchan is in advanced talks with Nikkhil Advani’s production house, Emmay Entertainment, for a drama. Mid-Day recently shared a report, in which the publication spilled some beans about his upcoming collaboration. Quoting a source, the report stated, “Abhishek has been choosy in his second innings as an actor, and it has paid off with Manmarziyaan [2018], Ludo [2020] and Breathe: Into the Shadows earning him praise.”

It further added, “He has liked the script, but has yet to sign on the dotted line. The film will see Nikkhil serve as a producer, with one of the studio’s directors going behind the camera. If all goes as planned, the team will kick off a start-to-finish schedule in Bhopal by the month-end.” The upcoming film is said to revolve around an unusual bond that Bachchan’s character develops with a kid.

However, it is worth highlighting that neither the actor nor the filmmaker has given any confirmation to the report yet.

Talking about Jr Bachchan’s professional front, the 46-year-old actor will be next seen in the third instalment of Prime Video’s popular series, Breathe: Into the Shadows. While R Madhvan played the lead in the first season, the second season introduced a new story with Abhishek in the lead along with Nithya Menen. Along with this web series, he also has a bunch of projects in his kitty, including Ghoomer.

Kirti Kulhari, Sayani Gupta, Maanvi Gagroo starrer Four More Shots Please season 3 to release on October 21

Prime Video today announced that the third season of the Emmy-nominated series – Four More Shots Please will globally premiere on October 21 in India and more than 240 countries and territories. Produced  by Pritish Nandy Communications, directed by Joyeeta Patpatia and written by Devika Bhagat, with dialogues by Ishita Moitra, the much-awaited Amazon Original will pick up from the dramatic note on which the second season ended, bringing back to screens the lives of four unapologetically flawed women who live, love, blunder, and discover what continues to make them tick through their forever friendship in the city of Mumbai.

Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi starrer Double XL release postponed; to clash with PhoneBhoot on November 4

A new subject that promises to break the clutter and redefine the way ‘attractiveness’ and ‘self-worth’ is measured, Double XL headlined by Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi will now hit theatres on 4th November 2022. Navya Naveli Nanda discusses ‘taboo topics’ like periods with grandfather Amitabh Bachchan; calls it ‘sign of progress'

Amitabh Bachchan and Navya Naveli Nanda share a rapport beyond the regular granddad-granddaughter scenario. The two recently were seen on the same stage discussing taboo topics like menstruation. Navya Naveli Nanda was in attendance at the NDTV telethon event recently with her grandfather Amitabh Bachchan, actors Dia Mirza, and Rashmika Mandanna. The Goodbye actress mentioned how adolescents often feel uncomfortable talking about taboo topics. Amitabh Bachchan agreed with her and said that menstruation is 'a sign of recreation.'

Navya agreed with her megastar grandfather and said, “Like he mentioned, it's a sign of life. That's not something that we should be ashamed of, or shy away from. Menstruation has been a taboo for a long time, but there has been progress. I’m sitting on stage today with my grandfather and talking about periods, and that itself is a sign of progress. The fact that we are sitting on a platform today with many people watching us and having an open conversation about menstruation itself shows that we have progressed, not just as women but as a country.”

“It’s great that not just the women, but the men have also joined in this mission of making menstruation a destigmatised conversation. More importantly, at home, because change always begins at home. Women should feel comfortable and safe about their own bodies in their own homes before going out in society and talking about that. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a home where I felt comfortable having these conversations,” she added.

Navya Naveli Nanda runs a healthcare program called Aara Health. She started in 2020. She is also currently hosting a podcast for IVM called ‘What The Hell Navya'.

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan was most recently seen in Brahmastra with Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy. It had a cameo of Shah Rukh Khan with glimpses of Deepika Padukone and Dimple Kapadia. He will next star in Sooraj Barjatya’s Unnchai with Boman Irani and Anupam Kher. He has also signed Nag Ashwin’s next with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone and The Intern remake with Deepika Padukone.

EXCLUSIVE: This is why Kriti Sanon has been mentioned under ‘Special Thanks’ in Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Goodbye

The slice-of-life film Goodbye released on October 7. The press show for the media was held three days before release, as the makers were confident about the product. During the screening, mediapersons were surprised to see that Kriti Sanon was mentioned under ‘Special Thanks’ in the opening slate. It made many journalists curious since Kriti Sanon is not a part of the film's cast.

Bollywood Hungama spoke to the film’s director Vikas Bahl exclusively to find out the reason. To which Vikas Bahl replied, “Kriti called me one day and remarked that mostly, my titles have had English words. Hence, she suggested that the film I am making should be titled Goodbye. In a jiffy, I realized that the title is absolutely bang-on. I told Mr Amitabh Bachchan about it. He also agreed that it’s an apt title. This is how we locked in the title Goodbye is precisely five minutes!”

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Kriti Sanon at some point was considered for Goodbye, for the role that was played by Rashmika Mandanna. Later, she bagged Ganapath, which is also directed by Vikas Bahl. So, she must have read the script and knew what the film is all about. This is how she was able to give the suggestion for the title to the makers.”

As per reports, at the very initial stages, the makers were considering naming the film Deadly. Later, Goodbye was finalized, courtesy Kriti Sanon.

Besides Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna, Goodbye also stars Neena Gupta, Pavail Gulati, Sunil Grover and Sahil Mehta. Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Saraswati Entertainment Pvt Ltd, Viraj Sawant and Vikas Bahl, it tells the story of an old-aged man whose beloved wife suddenly passes away. How he mends bridges with his children, with whom he doesn’t see eye-to-eye, forms the crux of the film. Interestingly, Goodbye has been released in Amitabh Bachchan’s 80th birthday week. The mega star’s birthday falls on Tuesday, October 11.

Meanwhile, Kriti Sanon is gearing up for the release of the creature comedy, Bhediya, co-starring Varun Dhawan. It’ll be released on November 25, while her fantasy epic adventure Adipurush is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on January 12, 2023. Her other releases include Kartik Aaryan co-starrer Shehzada and Ganapath, co-featuring Tiger Shroff.

Nushrratt Bharuccha announces her drama thriller Akelli; film set in Iraq

Nushrratt Bharuccha has been working on several projects. The actress will be next seen in a drama-thriller titled Akelli. Set in Iraq, the film showcases how a person realizes her own capabilities in adverse situations like being trapped in the desert land.

Speaking about the film, the producer and Founder of Dashami Studioz,  Nitin Vaidya expressed, “We are thrilled to announce Akelli starting Nushrratt Bharuccha. Her character in this film symbolizes a lone woman’s battle against all odds. The film's subject is very different and as a storyteller, Pranay has visualized each and every bit so well that his conviction made us want to back this movie.”

Taking to Instagram, the actress shared her first look and wrote, “Apni Pe Aa Jaaye..Toh Ek Akelli Hi Kaafi Hai!” The video sees her standing at the centre surrounded by women. In next clip, she is holding the clapboard.

Akelli is helmed by Pranay Meshram, who has worked as an associate director for various projects and will debutant as a director with this film. The film is produced by Dashami Studioz' Nitin Vaidya, Ninad Vaidya, Aparna Padgaonkar along with Vicky Sidana & Shashant Shah.

On the work front, Nushrratt Bharuccha will also be seen in Ram Setu with Akshay Kumar, Satya Dev and Jacqueline Fernandez. The film is set for Diwali 2022 release. The actress’ next is Selfiee with Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi and Diana Penty. It will be released in 2023. She also has Chhorii 2, the sequel to her film, Chhorii. She recently returned from Uzbekistan after wrapping a month-long schedule for her next untitled project.

Veteran actor Arun Bali passes away at the age of 79 years in Mumbai

Veteran actor Arun Bali was reportedly suffering from the neuromuscular disorder Myasthenia Gravis. The actor passed away on October 7 in Mumbai. The actor was 79.

According to a report by Indian Express, the veteran actor’s son Ankush Bali confirmed that the last rites will take place on Saturday. The family is waiting for other members to come down to Mumbai from the US for the funeral.

Earlier in January 2022, according, member of CINTAA Nupur Alankar who has known him for years, was speaking to Arun Bali over a call when she reportedly noticed something amiss in his speech. She also mentioned when she sensed something was majorly wrong with his speech and pointed it out to him. Later, she tried contacting his son Ankush but couldn't get through. She also tried calling up Rajeev Menon who is Ankush's colleague and got his other number and advised him to take Arun to the hospital immediately. Arun Bali's daughter later notified Nupur that her father has been diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a rare autoimmune disease caused by a communication failure between nerves and muscles.

Arun Bali was most recently seen in Laal Singh Chaddha, the Hindi adaptation of Forrest Gump. The film starred Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead roles. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film released on 11 August 2022. The actor's last project would be Goodbye, where he will be seen as Neena Gupta's father.

Arun Bali was known for his roles in 3 Idiots, PK, Kedarnath, and Panipat among other films. The actor was seen on several TV shows including his 1989 debut project Doosra Kewal, Chanakya, Swabhimaan and Kumkum Pyaara Sa Bandhan.

Alia Bhatt reveals how her journey as a producer started from Darlings; says, “Always ask the questions because no one has all the answers, even Bill Gates doesn’t.”

When Alia Bhatt started as Shanaya in Student Of The Year, way back in 2012, little did we know what this star kid will bring to the table. From showcasing her talent as an actor, this Bhatt girl has managed to even dip her hands into business, investments and even film production. Being one of the most sought after actresses of the current generation, the actress was invited to the Forbes podium during their show Tycoons of Tomorrow where the actress showcased the businesswoman side of her as she discussed her financial decisions, investments, and her recent venture of film production. Starting as a producer of the Netflix film Darlings, Alia Bhatt discussed her journey and also revealed a little something about the future of her production house.

Speaking about how it all started with Darlings, Alia Bhatt said in this Forbes conference, “What started off as a bit of a mathematical calculation, ended up being a production house. So, when Darlings came to me, I didn’t want to loan the production of the film. So I decided to charge a lesser fee and also that I’ll take the backend of the film. Actually what I realized by that time was that I was way more interested in what happens behind the camera and what it takes to make a movie. Ten years into the industry, I have had my first film as a producer out and I feel that the understanding that I have gathered on making a movie like Darlings has been extremely substantial. I am always learning - That’s my motto! I believe that you continuously learn and grow. You should also always ask questions because you don’t have all the answers, no one has, even Bill Gates doesn’t.”

She went on to further share, “It did seem like financially the right thing to do but otherwise also, it seemed like the right thing for me as a creative individual, ten years into the industry. Sorry, at that time I was eight.”

At the same time, Alia also asserted that she didn’t want to be like a production house that is constantly churning out content after content. “I am still a boutique production house. It’s not going to be like I am churning out content. But I will set out a certain goal where I would like to develop possibly a show, a movie, or a podcast. Whatever be the case, I know that I want to put out content that I connect with and has an emotional core that is extremely high. I want to be a part of a filmmaking process behind the camera and not just in front of the camera,” she concluded.

Christian Bale sarcastically credits Leonardo DiCaprio for his cinematic career; “Any role that anybody gets, it’s only because he’s passed it on”

Christian Bale, who is gearing up for his star-studded feature Amsterdam, cheekily revealed that he – and many other actors – owe their cinematic careers to Leonardo DiCaprio, who seemingly turned down those roles.

"Look, to this day, any role that anybody gets, it's only because he's passed on it beforehand," Bale told GQ in a candid interview. "It doesn't matter what anyone tells you. It doesn't matter how friendly you are with the directors. All those people that I've worked with multiple times, they all offered every one of those roles to him first."

"So, thank you, Leo, because literally, he gets to choose everything he does," Bale concluded. "And good for him, he's phenomenal." Bale further noted that he's never taken it personally for DiCaprio being the casting directors’ first choice for their films. "No. Do you know how grateful I am to get any damn thing? I mean, I can't do what he does," Bale said.

"And he does it magnificently. But I would suspect that almost everybody of similar age to him in Hollywood owes their careers to him passing on whatever project it is." As Entertainment Weekly notes, one role that DiCaprio reportedly declined was of the axe-wielding serial killer Patrick Bateman in the 2000 horror film American Psycho. When DiCaprio ultimately turned down the project, Bale took the baton that eventually led him to mainstream success.

They had paid me the absolute minimum they were legally allowed to pay me," he said of the Bateman role. "I remember one time sitting in the makeup trailer and the makeup artists were laughing at me because I was getting paid less than any of them." At the time, Bale said that "nobody wanted me to do" the film apart from director Mary Harron, which contributed to his lower wage.

"They said they would only make it if they could pay me that amount," Bale explained. "I was prepping for it when other people were playing the part. I was still prepping for it. And, you know, it moved on. I lost my mind. But I won it back."

Urmila Matondkar to feature in a double role in Tiwari

Actress Urmila Matondkar known for her superlative performances in films like Satya, Ek Haseena Thi, Bhoot, Rangeela, Kaun and Pinjar, is all set to make a grand comeback in a thriller titled Tiwari directed by Saurabh Varma, produced by Content Engineers. The actress plays the titular role in the web series set in a small town and has an emotional mother-daughter story at the core of it.

The thriller has the actress doing gritty action for which she has been training rigorously for last six months. Urmila will be seen in a completely different avatar in the show. Apparently, Urmila will play the double role of mother and daughter in Tiwari.

Talking about the show, Urmila says, “Tiwari offered me characters and a story arc that is challenging as a performer and things that I haven’t attempted so far. Written and created by a team of young writers, the team managed to keep me hooked till the end while narrating it. What I liked the most in the story is that at the core, it is an emotional mother-daughter story but at the same time, it has everything from drama to action to some thrilling twists and turns. I can’t wait to start shooting.”
