Remake of Mahesh Bhatt directorial Arth shelved, director Revathi claims, “I have postponed it for now”

What happened to the remake of Mahesh Bhatt’s Arth that Revathi was supposed to direct? Announced in 2019 with much fanfare, the project had the blessings of Bhatt. It was to feature Swara Bhaskar in Shabana Azmi’s role.

Of all the iconic roles, that the formidable Shabana Azmi has played the one that stands out as super-iconic is the deserted wife in Mahesh Bhatt’s Arth. That role, admits Shabana to a large extent, defined the shape of her career.

However, it seems the idea of a trying to redo Arth has been dropped. Says Revathi, “That project did not fall into place with the right actors. I have postponed it for now. We are actually doing a take on the subject, an idea that remained unexplored in the original. I didn’t want to do a faithful remake. I wanted to take the characters into a different direction.”

Incidentally, Revathi played Shabana’s role in Balu Mahendra’s Marapudiyam, the Tamil version of Arth.

Vicky Kaushal starrer SamBahadur to release on December 1, 2023, watch first teaser

The release date of SamBahadur has been announced. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the much anticipated Meghna Gulzar directorial, starring Vicky Kaushal in the titular role, is set to release in cinemas on 1st December 2023. The film also stars Sanya Malhotra as Manekshaw's wife Silloo and Fatima Sana Shaikh as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The makers dropped the first unit of the film today, announcing the date exactly a year before release next year— soaring the excitement for a long-awaited project among the audience. Sam Manekshaw’s Army career spanned over four decades and five wars. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal and his military victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war led to the creation of Bangladesh.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, starring Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film will release in theatres on December 1, 2023.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West finalize their divorce, Kanye to pay $2,00,000 per month in child support

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have officially ended their relationship finalizing their controversial divorce Monday, sorting out their custody and property issues.

According to People, the former couple will have joint physical and legal custody of their four children: North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3. The Grammy winner will be required to pay Kardashian $200,000 a month in child support. He will also be responsible for half of the children's medical, educational, and security expenses. Both Kardashian and West waived spousal support.

As per the report, the pair also agreed to settle disputes regarding the children by participating in mediation. However, if either party fails to take part, the other is allowed to make the decision in a dispute by default. The couple's assets, including their property, will be divided based upon their prenup.

"While I wish our marriage would have succeeded, I have come to the realization that there is no way to repair our marriage,” the Kardashians star wrote in court documents. “Kanye does not agree but at least it appears that he has come to the realization that I want to end our marriage, even if he does not. I ask that the Court restore me to the status of a single person so that I can begin the healing process and so that our family can begin the healing process and move forward in this new chapter in our lives."

The former couple first started dating in 2012 and got married in May 2014. Following West's public outbursts in 2020, Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February 2021. The finalization of divorce comes amid a growing list of controversies surrounding West. The “Donda” rapper is currently facing tough times professionally as many professional partners including Adidas, Balenciaga, and the talent agent CAA, cut ties with him after he made a series of anti-Semitic remarks.

Wednesday surpasses Stranger Things with biggest opening for an English language series on Netflix

Jenna Ortega starrer Wednesday set a new record at Netflix surpassing Stranger Things to become the English language series with the biggest debut on Netflix.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the Addams Family offshoot racked up 341.2 million hours of viewing worldwide last week, according to Netflix’s internal measurement. That tops the 335 million hours for Stranger Things 4 the week of May 30-June 5 as the best week for any English language series on the streamer.

Wednesday hit No. 1 in 83 countries for the week, tying Stranger Things 4. As per the report, Netflix estimates that more than 50 million households worldwide watched at least part of the series, dividing the total viewing by the season’s running time of about six hours.

Meanwhile, South Korean hit thriller Squid Game stays put with its all-time mark on Netflix with 571.76 million hours viewed for the week of September 27-October 3, 2021. Netflix's other major hit this year The Jeffrey Dahmer Story never garnered around 299 million in one week.

Speaking of Wednesday, the show is described as a "sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery" series which will follow Wednesday as she navigates life at Nevermore Academy, a boarding school for outcasts. The teen "attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore," per the synopsis.

In addition to Ortega, Wednesday stars Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Naomi J Ogawa, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer and Riki Lindhome. Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in the 1990s Addams Family movies, along with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Fred Armisen and Isaac Ordonez.

IIFA 2023 press conference: Farah Khan reveals why Salman Khan prefers dancing over hosting; gets a funny response from him, watch

The organisers of the 23rd Indian Film Academy and Awards (IIFA) are gearing up for a star-studded show with Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Karan Johar and Varun Dhawan, among others. Recently, the organisers hosted a press conference, which was attended by the above-mentioned stars along with Farah Khan, Badshah, Farhan Akhtar, Sunidhi Chauhan, and Amit Trivedi. Interestingly, during the press conference, Farah Khan revealed Salman Khan prefers dancing over hosting.

In a video, Salman jokingly poked fun at IIFA for getting Farah Khan, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, and Badshah to host this year’s event. Responding to Salman’s remark, Farah stated that they will be hosting other events. While calling those events “bigger” than his event, Khan continued to entertain the audience present over there.

However, Farah was quick to give a reply to Salman as she asserted, “Because you said - you prefer to dance. Because that was easier for you. You have to do hosting for three hours whereas you can get done with dancing in six minutes.”

Later, in the event, the Tiger actor also recalled his experience of being a part of the IIFA Awards for the past 20 years. He said, “I am glad to be going back to Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. This time, I promise to make them stand up and dance with me as we celebrate Indian cinema globally.”

The IFFI jury head and Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid made a rather powerful statement after watching one of the biggest releases of the year, The Kashmir Files. The filmmaker was reportedly left quite ‘shocked’ after watching this Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi starrer and even accused it to be a part of a ‘propoganda’ film and went on to call it ‘vulgar’. While many filmmakers, actors, and other members of the fraternity lashed out on Lapid for making these comments, now Israel Counsel General Kobbi Shoshani have also extended his support for the same.

Anupam Kher recently met up with Israel Counsel General Kobbi Shoshani and shared a video of the same on his social media. The actor also shared in this post about Mr. Shoshani visiting his school Actor Prepares, which is an educational institute for aspiring actors and actresses. He expressed his gratitude towards the Israel Counsel General adding, “Thank you dearest @KobbiShoshani, Counsel General of #Israel in Mumbai for visiting my school @actorprepares. In the video posted by Kher, Israel Counsel General Kobbi Shoshani not only revealed that he saw the film The Kashmir Files, a year ago and also expressed his love for the film. He not only apologized for the comment made by Nadav Lapid during IFFI 2022 but also added that his was a private opinion that does not represent the entire country of Israel. He went on assert that it is possibly the opinion of a minority group.

Not too long ago, after Lapid made his comments about the film, Anupam Kher too shared a video slamming the filmmaker for making such nasty remarks about the Vivek Agnihotri directorial, For the unversed, The Kashmir Files is inspired by real life events which includes the exodus of Kashmiri pandits from the state.

Sara Ali Khan joins Tiger Shroff as the leading lady for an action thriller

Known for his power packed roles, action hero Tiger Shroff was brought on board by filmmaker Jagan Shakti for his next, which is expected to be an action thriller. Recent reports suggest that actress Sara Ali Khan has been roped in as the leading lady for this venture and she will be joining the team soon to kick off work on it. Produced by Jackky Bhagnani, the film is expected to be a quintessential commercial potboiler as Tiger becomes the man fighting all odds to ensure that the good wins over evil.

As per reports in Pinkvilla, with Sara Ali Khan joining the cast, the makers are thrilled because they were keen on bringing a new onscreen pairing on board. While Sara has acted with heroes like the late Sushant Singh Rajput, Kartik Aaryan, Varun Dhawan, Ranveer Singh, in the past, the actress will be paired opposite Tiger for the first time in a film. Furthermore, reports also have it that the film is expected to go on floors on December 10 and will be shot across India as well as Europe.

The mission-based film is said to be currently in the pre-production stage. These reports stated that producer Jackky Bhagnani and Jagan Shakti are working towards making a big budget action thriller with some powerful adrenaline pumping stunts in the film and never-seen-before sequences. While the makers are in search for the actor who will essay the role of antagonist, an official announcement of the casting is expected to be made in next few days. Produced under the banner Pooja Entertainment, the film is said to be having a theatrical release.

Abhishek Bachchan to feature in Nikkhil Advani’s remake of Tamil film KD

Abhishek Bachchan was recently seen in the OTT show Breathe season 3. While the actor has been making great strides in the web space, he has not totally ignored the big screen. In fact, though he has been absent for a while from theatres, we hear that Abhishek will soon be making a comeback of sorts. As per reports on Peepingmoon, Abhishek Bachchan will be teaming up with filmmaker Nikkhil Advani for his remake of the Tamil film KD.

As per the report, the said venture will be a comedy-drama developed under Nikkhil’s banner Emmay Entertainment. A remake of the 2019 Tamil film, KD, the venture will see the original film’s director Madhumita Sundararaman, coming on board to direct the remake as well. In fact, the report further adds that Madhumita has already commenced the pre-production work on the film and is looking to kick-start shooting in January 2023 in Bhopal.

As for the film itself, the story of KD is based on the unusual bond that an elderly man develops with a kid. Apparently, Abhishek Bachchan was quite taken up with the premise of the story and agreed to feature in it. In the remake, Abhishek will be seen stepping into the role that was originally played by Mu Ramaswamy. The film revolves around an elderly man who suddenly wakes up from a coma to hear his family plotting to kill him and the character runs away, eventually meeting an eight-year-old orphan.

Talking about the shoot, the makers are planning a two-month schedule to shoot the venture with a tentative release somewhere in mid-2023.

The Kashmir Files row at IFFI: Producer Pallavi Joshi slams IFFI Jury head Nadav Lapid; calls him “a genocide denier”

Ever since the video of IFFI just head Nadav Lapido criticising the inclusion of The Kashmir Files in the International Film Festival of India went viral on the internet, it has spared a controversy. Nadav calling it a “propaganda and vulgar movie” has upset a section of many. Amid this, a couple of cast and crew members of the film have also expressed their disappointment. After Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumaar, another actor, who also produced the Vivek Agnihotri directorial, Pallavi Joshi, broke her silence on the matter.

While sharing her official statement, in the caption, Pallavi made it crystal clear that it is for Nadav’s comment as she wrote, “Here is my official statement to Nadav Lapid. Jai Hind.” Her statement read, “For decades the international community remained silent on the sufferings of the Kashmiri Pandit Community. After 3 decades, the Indian film industry finally realised that it needs to tell India's story truthfully and objectively.”

She further added, “Vivek and I were always aware that there are elements that would not like to see the stark truth on the screen, but it is very unfortunate that a creative platform was used for a political agenda to preserve an old, false and jaded narrative about Kashmir.

We are overwhelmed by the way people of India rose to defend The Kashmir Files against the rude and vulgar statements of a genocide denier.”

Her note further read, “I would like to assure our audience and supporters that The Kashmir Files remains a people's film.”

Before signing off, she mentioned, “I also want to thank the Israeli Ambassador H.E Naor Gilon and the Consul General / Shri Kobbi Shoshani for their support. I Am Buddha stands for India and we will continue the path of truth and resilience to keep making meaningful cinema with original Indian content.”

For the unversed, during his speech at 53rd IFFI, Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid openly criticised the film and said, “All of us were disturbed and shocked by the movie The Kashmir Files. It felt to us like a propaganda, vulgar movie that's inappropriate for an artistic, competitive section of such a prestigious film festival.”

Helena Bonham Carter says Johnny Depp was “completely Vindicated” in defamation trial and J.K. Rowling was “hounded” for her transgender remarks

Actress Helena Bonham Carter defended her Alice in Wonderland co-star Johnny Depp and also expressed support for Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling for her stance on trans-genders. According to Entertainment Weekly, the actress shared that she thinks Depp was “completely vindicated” in his defamation trial against his former wife Amber Heard. “I think he's fine now. Totally fine," she said in a recent interview for Times magazine.

Bonham Carter's comments come months after a Virginia jury found that Heard defamed Depp in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed about domestic violence, though she didn't name her ex-husband in the article. Following the months long U.S. trial, Depp was awarded more than $10 million in damages, and Heard won one of her defamation counterclaims and was awarded $2 million.

Meanwhile with regards to Rowling, Bonham Carter said, "It's horrendous, a load of bollocks. I think she has been hounded. It's been taken to the extreme, the judgmentalism of people. She's allowed her opinion, particularly if she's suffered abuse. Everybody carries their own history of trauma and forms their opinions from that trauma and you have to respect where people come from and their pain.”

“You don't all have to agree on everything — that would be insane and boring,” she added. “She's not meaning it aggressively, she's just saying something out of her own experience.” As the outlet notes, Rowling has said in the past that she's not anti-trans and that she supports trans people. However, the Harry Potter creator has repeatedly come under fire by LGBTQ activists and organizations for her much-criticized remarks regarding the transgender community.

In 2020, Rowling wrote an op-ed where she argued for the need for safe single-sex spaces for women as non-gendered public bathrooms were introduced. In the op-ed she shared her own experience of domestic abuse and being a sexual assault survivor. When asked if Potter actors who have criticized Rowling’s stance (including Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint) were “ungrateful,” Bonham Carter said, “I won’t say that.”

“Personally, I feel they should let her have her opinions, but I think they’re very aware of protecting their own fan base and their generation,” she added. “It’s hard. One thing with the fame game is that there’s an etiquette that comes with it; I don’t agree with talking about other famous people.”

Bonham Carter spoke to the Sunday Times Magazine after being named the first female president of the London Library.

Amul pays heartfelt tribute to the late Vikram Gokhale’s career

Amul, the Indian brand of milk products, is known for coming up with tributes to various personalities who have made the country proud through its cartoon images. They have now presented a similar tribute to the veteran actor Vikram Gokhale, who passed away recently on 26 November at the age of 77.

The picture has Gokhale in three different avatars. The black and white image shows the veteran artiste smiling and in a relaxed and joyful mood. The portrait also has the words – Har Part Ke Samrat. It speaks about Gokhale’s immense talent of playing different types of characters with relative ease.

The image, as expected, has gone viral. One can find numerous emotional comments on it made by the fans of the late actor.

Gokhale entered the movie world way back in the early 1970s and continued working for five decades till his death in both Hindi and Marathi films. He was also known for his performances in Marathi plays, along with stints in Hindi and Marathi television.

Emancipation actor Will Smith responds to people who are not ready for his return to films after 2022 Oscar slapgate

Will Smith, who is currently on press tour for his upcoming film Emancipation, addressed the audience who are not ready for the actor’s comeback with his first film since he slapped Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars.

“I completely understand — if someone is not ready, I would absolutely respect that and allow them their space to not be ready,” Smith said in a recent interview. “My deepest concern is my team – Antoine has done what I think is the greatest work of his entire career. The people on this team have done some of the best work of their entire careers, and my deepest hope is that my actions don’t penalize my team. At this point, that’s what I’m working for.”

“I’m hoping that the material — the power of the film, the timeliness of the story — I’m hoping that the good that can be done would open people’s hearts at a minimum to see and recognize and support the incredible artists in and around this film,” he added. Following the infamous 2022 Oscar slapgate, Smith resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and was later given a 10-year ban from attending the Oscars in light of his actions at the March 27 ceremony.

Meanwhile, Emancipation tells the triumphant story of Peter (Smith), a man who escapes from slavery, relying on his wits, unwavering faith and deep love for his family to evade cold-blooded hunters and the unforgiving swamps of Louisiana on his quest for freedom.

The film is inspired by the 1863 photos of “Whipped Peter,” taken during a Union Army medical examination, that first appeared in Harper’s Weekly. One image, known as “The Scourged Back,” which shows Peter’s bare back mutilated by a whipping delivered by his enslavers, ultimately contributed to growing public opposition to slavery.

The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, from a script by William N. Collage. The film is produced by Will Smith and Jon Mone through Westbrook Studios, Joey McFarland though McFarland Entertainment and Todd Black through Escape Artists. Chris Brigham, Antoine Fuqua, James Lassiter, Heather Washington, Cliff Roberts, Glen Basner and Scott Greenberg are executive producing.

Emancipation premieres in theaters on December 2 and then streams on Apple TV+ December 9 onwards.

Blurr trailer: Taapsee Pannu is desperate to uncover her twin sister’s death before losing her eyesight in this thriller

Akshay Kumar has become the go-to actor for Bollywood when it comes to films with nationalistic themes. Similarly, over the last few years, Taapsee Pannu has become a thriller specialist. After Badla, Game Over, Haseen Dilruba, Looop Lapeta and Dobaaraa, we can now add Blurr in the list. The film is the Hindi adaptation of the Spanish thriller Julia’s Eyes.

The film’s trailer, which is just released, reveals that it deals with the story of twins Gayatri and Gautami, both played by Taapsee Pannu. Gayatri’s life turns upside down when Gautami, who was visually challenged, dies by suicide, at least this is what the cops conclude.

Gayatri, however, is sure that her sister can’t end her life and starts investigating her death. Her husband (Gulshan Devaiah) doesn’t support her though as he is satisfied with the version of the cops. What’s worse for Gayatri is that she too is slowly losing her eyesight.

The trailer makes it clear that Blurr goes onto the thriller mode right from the start. Apart from the story, that’s both intriguing and tragic, the technical departments, including the colour grading, gets your attention. The trailer ends on a creepy note when a character is throwing light from the torch on Gayatri’s face but all she can see is darkness.

Taapsee appears in good form as a woman troubled by multiple reasons. The rest of the actors don’t get much screentime in the trailer.

Directed by Ajay Bahl and produced by Tony D’Souza, Pradeep Sharma and Manav Durga, Blurr will stream on Zee 5 from December 9.

Sanjay Gupta confirms that Fardeen Khan’s comeback film Visfot, co-starring Riteish Deshmukh, will skip theatrical release and premiere directly on an OTT platform

Last year, in September 2021, it was announced that Fardeen Khan is all set to make a grand comeback with Visfot. Co-starring Riteish Deshmukh, it is directed by Kookie Gulati and is produced by Sanjay Gupta. The film was expected to be released in cinemas but recently, Sanjay Gupta revealed that Fardeen Khan’s comeback movie will directly arrive on a streaming site.

In an interaction with mid-day, Sanjay Gupta confirmed that Visfot will skip a theatrical release and premiere directly on OTT in 2023 due to unfavourable box office conditions. It is an official remake of the 2012 Venezuelan film, Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Reportedly, Riteish plays a pilot in the film whose son gets kidnapped by Fardeen’s character. In an interview earlier this year, Fardeen Khan revealed that he plays a guy from Dongri in the film. In fact, the film was even shot in the South Mumbai locality. Besides Fardeen Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, Visfot also stars Priya Bapat, Krystle D'Souza, Seema Bapat and Sheeba Chadha. Along with Sanjay Gupta, Bhushan Kumar has also backed this film.

Sanjay Gupta also revealed to mid-day that he’ll also release his directorial venture, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Meezaan Jafri, on a digital platform directly. When asked the reason to avoid a theatrical run for his films, he said, “We have no illusion of taking these movies to theatres and making big numbers. I was clear that it would take a minimum of two years for [Bollywood to recover after the pandemic].”

Sanjay Gupta’s directorial venture was tentatively titled The Miranda Brothers. It is set in Goa and is a story of two brothers. Sahher Bambba also features in this film, whose dialogues are penned by Milap Zaveri.

And that’s not all. Sanjay Gupta revealed that his production house will come up with three more films, all meant for digital releases. Out of these three, he’ll direct one film, which is a black comedy. As for the other two films, one is set in Chandni Chowk while the other is a comedy thriller.

Sanjay Gupta’s last release was Mumbai Saga, starring John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi. It was released on March 19, 2021, when the Delta wave of Covid-19 had reared its ugly head.

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana got felicitated at the 53rd edition of the International Film Festival in Goa this evening for being an actor who has been the biggest ‘disruptive and a ‘game changer’ in Hindi cinema! 

The ace actor graciously thanked and acknowledged everyone present on stage and the various fraternity members seated in the audience. 

The ace actor-singer continued his speech by saying “Thank you for this award, the validation, for the gratification. We always look out for acknowledgements and this award means a lot to me. I have actually completed 10 years in the industry and I have tried to pick up social-cultural issues through my films. It feels good to stand here and receive this award here today.”

In the end, as the host, Sameer Kochhar insisted Ayushmann sang two lines of ‘Pani Da Rang’ from his debut film Vicky Donor.

Anupam Kher takes a sly dig at IFFI Jury Head for calling The Kashmir Files “propaganda, vulgar movie”; Darshan Kumaar also reacts

The event of the 53rd International Film Festival Of India this year was quite happening, given that it premiered some of the most noteworthy Bollywood films released in 2022. And, when it comes to noteworthy films of 2022, the Vivek Agnihotri directorial The Kashmir Files is nearly impossible to miss out on. However, Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid, who was also one of the jury heads of IFFI, and him calling the film “propaganda and vulgar” have created a buzz on the internet. Hours after a video of him from the event went viral, The Kashmir Files actors Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumaar reacted to it.

Taking a sly dig at Naved Lapid’s remark on TKF, Anupam Kher shared a post on his verified social media handle. The multiple-picture post included his still from the film as well as the official cover of The Schindler's List. In Hindi, the actor wrote, “No matter how high the height of the lie is... It is always smaller in front of the truth.” As soon as Kher shared the post on his handles, a section of netizens extended their support in the comments section.

The Schindler’s List, which was released in 1993, revolves around a German industrialist who saved more than a thousand mostly Polish-Jewish refugees from the Holocaust.

As mentioned above, Darshan Kumaar also expressed his disappointment over the IFFI jury member’s comment. In an interview with TOI, Kumar said, “Everyone has their own individual opinions on anything they see and perceive. But one can’t deny the fact that The Kashmir Files is a film which has depicted the actual plight of the Kashmiri pandit community, who are still fighting for justice against the brutal acts of terrorism. So this film is not based on vulgarity but on reality.”

For the unversed, Nadav Lapid condemned The Kashmir Files during his speech at the event. In a video, he can be heard saying, “All of us were disturbed and shocked by the movie The Kashmir Files. It felt to us like a propaganda, vulgar movie that's inappropriate for an artistic, competitive section of such a prestigious film festival.”

Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson reveals Warner Bros. ‘inexplicably and inexcusably’ did not want Henry Cavill back as Superman

Dwayne Johnson starrer anti-hero film Black Adam saw Henry Cavill back in the iconic cape of Superman but recently, Johnson revealed that Warner Bros. wasn't keen on bringing back the Man of Steel in the DC Universe. In a video shared by Johnson on Twitter, the DC star celebrated the success of his anti-hero epic and also praised Cavill’s return, noting that if they want to establish Black Adam “as the most powerful, unstoppable force in the DC universe,” they had to bring back “the most powerful, unstoppable force of all time in any universe.”

“And you guys know who I’m talking about? Of course, that is Superman. And that’s Henry Cavill,” he added. Johnson then went on to reveal that the studio “inexplicably and inexcusably” did not want to bring back the Man of Steel but he was not going to take no for an answer and continued to fight for Cavill’s return.

“This has been years in the making regarding bringing Henry Cavill back and years of strategic conversations and we were not going to take no for an answer,” he said. “There was no way, there’s no viable logical way that you can attempt to build out the DC Universe without the most powerful force and the greatest superhero of all time sitting on the sidelines. It’s impossible to do.”

Johnson continued, “You can Venn diagram, business-wise, this whole thing 90 different times. But it all comes back to, ‘Where’s Superman?’ You have to have Superman in the mix. So that’s why we fought hard to bring Superman back, Henry Cavill. And there was no other Superman, by the way, to bring back. Henry Cavill is our generation’s Superman and, in my opinion, the greatest Superman.”

He continued, “And I mean that respectfully to the other actors, especially Christopher Reeve. But the greatest Superman of all time.” With Cavill back in the DC Universe, the Black Adam star noted that they can “now build out the DC Universe, properly, strategically and smartly.”

Cavill donned the iconic suit for the first time in the 2013 movie Man of Steel. Since then, he has played Superman in movies like Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. He also appeared as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021.

Following his cameo in DC’s Black Adam, it was confirmed by Cavil in a social media post that he will be returning as Superman in a new Warner Bros.- DC film.

BREAKING: Sanjana Sanghi to feature alongside Pankaj Tripathi in Pink director Anirudh Roy Choudhary’s untitled next

Just a couple of days back, the Dil Bechara actress Sanjana Sanghi had taken to her social media sharing a glimpse of her reading what seemed to be a script. In fact, the actress even teased her fans to take a guess at her next project. Well, Bollywood Hungama has now exclusively learnt that Sanjana will be seen in Pink director Anirudh Roy Choudhary’s untitled next.

Confirming the same a source close to the developments tells Bollywood Hungama, “Yes, Sanjana has been signed on for the venture and will be seen sharing screens space with Pankaj Tripathi and Parvathy Thiruvothu. Besides these three, the film will also include a few other names, which the makers are keeping under wraps for now.” Ask for more details about the project and the source continues, “The untitled venture will be directed by Anirudh Roy Choudhary of Pink fame, and will be produced under the Wiz Films banner which is also developing the docu-series on Salman Khan, Beyond The Star.”

As for the shoot and eventual release of the film the source further adds, “Right now only the cast and story have been locked. Pre-production will begin shortly. For now, an official announcement of the venture will be made in the coming days.”

EXCLUSIVE: Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10 winner Gunjan Sinha opens up on what she learnt from judge Madhuri Dixit

Amidst tough competition between popular celebrities, the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10 has finally come to an end. Featuring Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar, Nora Fatehi, and Terence Lewis as its judges, the show had an interesting mix of celebrities, from popular TV stars to a chef to a junior dancing talent as its contestants. The much talked about grand finale, which had Rubina Dilaik, Faisal Shaikh aka, Mr. Faisu, amongst others as its finalists, saw child celebrity dancer Gunjan Sinha as the winner. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Gunjan opened up about being a part of the show.

Talking about something that she learned from Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10, Gunjan Sinha revealed that she sought inspiration for all her dances from none other than judge Madhuri Dixit. Gunjan told Bollywood Hungama, “I have learned a lot from Madhuri ma’am and her dance videos. I have always loved the kind of expression she gives. All my performances, by far, have been inspired by the way she used to give expressions in her dances.” Furthermore, the 8-year-old also spoke about the kind of bond she shares with her team members adding, “I am very glad to have met some of the biggest artists in the industry like Faisu bhaiyya (Faisal Shaikh), Niti didi (Niti Taylor), Amruta ma’am (Amruta Khanvilkar).” She further went on to add how her hard work has finally paid off. “Considering that there were so many big celebrities on the show, we worked really hard to win the trophy. And I am glad our dreams came true.”

Recalling the time she danced ‘Apsara Aali’ on the show, Gunjan went on to add, “It was my favourite performance. We performed Lavani and I received a standing ovation. It was such a surreal moment for me. In fact, everyone liked my performance so much that they described my dance as a different show altogether. I remember the judges saying that they are a part of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa but I am a part of Gunjan Dikhhla Jaa. I laughed so hard. I can never forget that moment.”

Cirkus teaser: One Rohit Shetty and two Ranveer Singhs succeed in building up excitement for the mad comedy

The much awaited and hyped teaser of Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus throws a surprise. Instead of showing a glimpse of the movie, which teasers normally do, this one has its long list of cast speaking about what one can expect from the movie.

So we have two Ranveer Singhs and Varun Sharmas, along with Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Manoj Tiwari, Tiku Talsania, Brijendra Kala, Siddharth Jadhav and Ashwini Kalsekar highlighting that the film is based in the 1960s when there was no internet and social media.

However, despite providing info about the film, the teaser of Cirkus, as expected from a Shetty comedy, is also filled with humour. The joke on Panvel and Johnny Lever being called Malinga are noteworthy moments.

Cirkus is adapted from William Shakespeare’s classic story The Comedy Of Errors. It’s the story of two set of twins who get interchanged during childhood and how this leads to chaos when they grow up.

Cirkus is Ranveer’s second full-fledged role in a movie directed by Shetty after Simmba. He played a cameo, along with Ajay Devgn, in the filmmaker’s last outing Sooryavanshi.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Rohit Shetty Productionz, the keenly awaited trailer of Cirkus will drop on December 2, while the film will be released during the Christmas period on December 23.

Kiara Advani replaces Katrina Kaif; will now feature as the face of Slice

For the past few years, each summer the popular fruit-based drink Slice has featured none other than Katrina Kaif as its brand ambassador. However, Bollywood Hungama has now learnt that the brand has made a change. If what we hear is true, then Kiara Advani who is currently on a high with the success of Shershaah, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and JugJugg Jeeyo will be replacing Katrina as the face of the brand.

Commenting on the change a source close to the brand informed Bollywood Hungama, “Katrina Kaif has been the face of the brand for a while now. However, things change, and Kiara, who has been enjoying a lot of success at the box office, has now become rather popular with the audience as well. Given this, the brand felt that re-aligning their image and position with Kiara Advani as their new face of the brand was perfect.” Ask the source for details about the TVC and he continues, “Right now, Kiara Advani has only been signed on as the brand ambassador, the TVC is yet to be shot. As per schedule, Kiara has allocated dates to shoot for the TVC next week, once completed a formal announcement of Kiara now being the brand ambassador will be made along with the advertisements being unveiled”.

Now with yet another brand name under her belt, Kiara Advani seems to be doing rather well. Back on the work front, the actress is currently gearing up for her soon-to-release film Govinda Naam Mera followed by the Kartik Aaryan starrer Satyaprem Ki Katha and the Telugu film with Ram Charan tentatively titled RC15.

Cirkus Teaser: Makers to release teaser of Ranveer Singh’s Rohit Shetty directorial to release tomorrow

Earlier this month Bollywood Hungama was the first to report that the promotions for the Ranveer Singh starrer Cirkus would begin in December. In fact, we had reported that the makers of the Rohit Shetty directorial were planning an intensive three to four week promotion campaign that would include a host of activities. Well, earlier today evening the makers announced that the teaser of Cirkus would be released tomorrow, November 28.

Taking to the micro blogging site Twitter Ranveer Singh made a formal announcement of the teaser launch saying, “Let the madness begin! Teaser out tomorrow! #CirkusThisChristmas #RohitShetty @hegdepooja @Asli_Jacqueline @varunsharma90”. Along with the tweet, the actor share a few images of the cast as well.

While we cant wait to watch the teaser of Cirkus, the trailer of the film will be released as scheduled in the first week of December, with further promotions commencing after that. As for the film itself, Cirkus will be Shetty and Singh’s second collaboration, after 2018’s Simmba and the latter’s cameo in Sooryavanshi, which was released in 2021. Ranveer will be seen playing a double role for the first time. The ensemble star cast of Cirkus also features a bunch of talented actors, including Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Varun Sharma, Tiku Talsania, and Vrajesh Hirjee.

EXCLUSIVE: Giorgia Andriani talks about her career in Bollywood; admits she wants to become “a director”

After making a brief cameo appearance in Guest In London, and marking her digital debut with Karoline Kamakshi, Italian model-actress Giorgia Andriani often grabs the attention for her stunning outfits. Though she has not done any big-screen project or a music video in 2022, media reports often speculate about her upcoming project.

Recently, during a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Andriani gave clarity on the matter and revealed what are her plans for the future. When asked to shed some light on her plans, she asserted, “I just know that for now, I feel like doing music videos because in just a few minutes you have the opportunity to connect with people.”

Elaborating further, she added, “A film is three hours long and it communicates a lot and there's definitely so many chances to connect. However, in a three-minute music video, you still have that opportunity because there's still one story and there are still lyrics that people relate to so for now because it's the beginning of my career I am loving what I'm doing, music videos, for now, is my plan.”

She also asserted, “Life has its own intelligence. I think you can kind of know where you want to go but then it's up to destiny I think so for now I'm just polishing myself.” She also admitted that the plan of being a director is still on along with trying her hand in script writing as well. She concluded by saying, “that (being a director) is still on. However, for now, it's just on a standstill; I will see in the future. I want to be ready for that as well so that will take time.”

Kajol reunites with Karan Johar-owned Dharma Productions after 12 years for Ibrahim Ali Khan’s debut

Filmmaker-actress duo Karan Johar and Kajol have been friends since childhood. The BFFs of Bollywood have given a bunch of hit projects, including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, among others. However, their relationship worsened when Karan’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn starrer Shivaay clashed at the box office. Though the duo resolved their differences briefly, fans eagerly waited for them to reunite. And, now, it seems the wait will be over soon as their reunion is on the cards for the debut project of Ibrahim Ali Khan.

If a report by PeeingMoon is something to go by, then Kajol and KJo are all set to join hands for the debut project of Ibrahim Ali Khan. Interestingly, the duo will come together after 12 years. For the unversed, they last worked together for the 2010’s release My Name Is Khan starring Shah Rukh Khan. Talking about the report of the portal, Kajol has signed Karan’s next production venture, to be directed by Kayoze Irani. She is said to have joined the cast to play a lead role alongside debutante Ibrahim Ali Khan.

Quoting an industry source, the report said, “Kajol will play an emotionally strong character and will share the maximum screen time with Ibrahim Ali Khan. She has worked with Ibrahim’s father, Saif Ali Khan, in films like Dillagi, Hameshaa, and Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, and is thrilled to act with his son now in his very first film. Ibrahim has also started his prep and is readying himself to share screen space with seasoned actors like Kajol.”

However, neither the actress nor the filmmaker has made any official announcement of the same. The report also added that the casting for the other pivotal parts of the forthcoming project is underway in Mumbai.

“I am giving auditions and I get rejected a lot,” says Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan

Babil Khan, son of the late Irrfan Khan, is making his debut with the Netflix film Qala. It is generally believed that star kids have it easy when it comes to getting the first break. But Babil says that that wasn’t the case with him since he has had to struggle like any other newcomer.

In a chat with Hindustan Times, Babil said, “I don’t think my mother (producer Sutapa Sikdar) can ever pick up the phone and ask for a favour. I have to go give auditions nahi to aisi maar padegi ghar pe (else I would get a thrashing at home). That is our sanskaar. There is no possibility of breaking that. Even now, I am giving auditions and I get rejected a lot. Even today, if there is an audition I really want to crack and I mess it up, she will be so angry at me. But she will never pick up the phone and say, ‘kara do isko’. That is against our values. I think people also understand that.”

Directed by Anvita Dutt, Qala also stars Tripti Dimri and Swastika Mukherjee. The film is based in the film industry of the 1940s.

Babil knows the kind of expectations people have for him because of him being the son of the great Irrfan Khan. “I am always comparing myself to the legacy…you know, bhaar hai,” he added. “I am a person who wants to give the best when I am doing something. We shot this (Qala) two years ago. I have grown as an actor a lot. So, I always wonder ‘I wish I would have done this or that’. But I also believe that whatever art you make has its own journey and you can’t bring your own ego into it.”

Looking back at his father’s way of working, Babil said, “Baba’s entire work was always about the connect with people. He didn’t care about awards, or who was producing or directing him. He just knew he had to play this character and he would draw that from the people. That has come into me as well.”

Qala will stream on Netflix from 2nd December.

Football club FC Barcelona congratulates Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on becoming parents

The official Twitter page of well-known Spanish football club FC Barcelona has congratulated Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt for becoming proud parents of the baby girl Raha. They shared a picture of the two actors with their baby and wrote, “Congratulations, @aliaa08 & Ranbir Kapoor!! A new Barça fan is born. We can’t wait to meet you all in Barcelona.”

The tweet, which became viral in no time, came a day after the couple revealed the name of their new-born girl. The fans of both the actors can’t stop gushing over the gesture of the football club as they believe it is a big thing!

However, there was a funny twist in store after one fan dug out a seven-year-old tweet of Alia where she is proudly posing while wearing the jersey of Barcelona’s rival Arsenal. She had captioned the picture, “Thank you @atulkasbekar for this!!!! Guess this makes me a #Gooner officially. Or is it Goonerette? Come on Arsenal!!!”

Vikram Gokhale passes away in Pune at the age of 77

Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale died in Pune, at the age of 77, on Saturday.  After reeling under ill health over the past few days, Gokhale breathed his last at Pune's Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. The late actor was admitted a few days ago due to health-related complications.

Confirming the news, Gokhale's daughter told PTI, “This is to confirm that Mr Vikram Gokhale passed away this afternoon. We would like to thank everyone for their good wishes, support and prayers through this difficult time.” In a statement shared on Thursday, the family of the late actor had informed that he was “extremely critical.”

Another report shared by Indian Express had quoted a source close to the family saying, “Doctors treating him are trying their best, and until the doctors give any further instructions to the family, they’ll not be in the state to make any statement. Please don’t believe any rumours, please keep praying.”

The rumours of his demise had started floating online from Wednesday morning. However, they were later dismissed by his family.

Gokhale had extensively worked in theatre, television and movies, including several Marathi and Bollywood films. He was seen playing significant characters in the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Agneepath, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Natsamrat and Mission Mangal. He was last seen in a Marathi film, titled Godavari.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali opens up on his BAFTA masterclass; says, “It is always a pleasure to come face-to-face with a cinema literate audience”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali leaves for London on November 25 with his film Gangubai Kathiawadi at the BAFTA (British Academy Film Awards). The film is being submitted in all the major categories including Best Film, Director, Adapted Screenplay, Leading Actress and Film Not in the English Language. The award ceremony will be held at the Royal Festival Hall in London in February 2023.

Bhansali will also be hosting a BAFTA Masterclass on November 28.And it is this honour of addressing a masterclass that has Bhansali all excited. “It is always a pleasure to come face-to-face with a cinema literate audience. There will be several screenings of my film at BAFTA so that the audience at the masterclass would be fully conversant with the film.”

Bhansali doesn’t intend to prepare a speech beforehand. “I would rather let the audience ask the questions and then let my responses flow organically.” The one regret during this BAFTA experience would be that Bhansali’s Gangubai, Alia Bhatt, won’t be able to attend with him. “She is at the moment playing the best role of her life. No power in the world can tear her away from enjoying her motherhood right now,” says Bhansali affectionately.

Kartik Aaryan recalls having disturbing nights while preparing for Freddy; talks about coming back to "reality and normalcy"

Disney+ Hotstar recently announced their upcoming spine-chilling romantic thriller Freddy. Produced by Balaji Telefilms Ltd, NH Studioz and Northern Lights Films, directed by Shashanka Ghosh and starring Kartik Aaryan and Alaya F, the film will release on December 2, 2022, exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.

Kartik Aaryan's most awaited Freddy is about the journey of Dr Freddy Ginwala, a shy, lonely and socially awkward person who loves playing with his miniature planes and the only friend he has is his pet turtle ‘Hardy’. Filled with unusual twists, turns and chaos of emotions, Freddy will keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

Kartik Aaryan, who will be seen in the very intense character of Freddy opened up about his preparation for the character. “I literally dwelled in the world of Freddy while shooting the film. It was important for me to remain in that headspace and go to the set and perform. I got disturbing nights because of Freddy but it was important to be focused on the bigger picture and tried to curtail my regular activities while shooting Freddy so that I could focus on the film and the character. Post the wrap, I connected with my friends and family who keep me grounded and that helped me return to reality and normalcy again,” he said.

Kajol flaunts her blue BMW X7 SUV worth Rs 1.8 crore!

Bollywood actress Kajol has already kick-started the promotions of her upcoming film Salaam Venky. Ever since the makers launched the trailer of the film, the actress was spotted at various locations to promote it. However, during her recent appearance, the actress was seen flaunting her swanky BMW X7 SUV worth Rs 1.8 crore.

In one of the video posts shared on the verified social media handle and celebrity photographer Viral Bhayani, Kajol looked stunning in a red saree. The actress can be seen walking with her team at the start of the video. However, as the video progresses further, she can be seen posing along with her expensive car for paps. Interestingly, the actress was spotted near the sets of Salman Khan’s popular reality show Bigg Boss.

However, it is worth mentioning that the makers of Bigg Boss Season 16 have not shared any promo video featuring Kajol, so far. It will be interesting to see if Kajol will enter the Bigg Boss house or join the stage with host Salman Khan for the weekend special episodes.

Talking about her upcoming film, Salaam Venky, produced by BLIVE Productions and RTAKE Studios, it is directed by Revathy. It is slated to release in theatres on December 9, 2022. The ensemble star cast of the film will also feature Mardaani 2 fame Vishal N. Jethwa, Aahana S Kumra, Rahul Bose and Rajeev Khandelwal.

Going by trailer, the film will trace a story of a mother who overcame the most trying conditions with perseverance. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan will also be seen in a cameo appearance.
